History of CSC Group

Founded in Santa Cruz, California in 1967 by D.K. Kim, CSC Labs rates among the top 20 full-service optical labs in the country, servicing over 3,000 customers nationally and internationally.

The company originally started as a direct frames sales business and achieved great success. However, Mr Kim soon discovered an opportunity to expand the business and change directions. At the time, optical professionals had to purchase frames and lenses from different sources. CSC developed a groundbreaking way to service these professionals by offering a package that combined frames and lenses by founding an optical laboratory in addition to the frame sales business.

Today, CSC boasts a full-service, state-of-the art laboratory in the Bay Area offering a wide selection of fashion frames and stock lenses, its own high-quality frames and lenses, an in-house AR coating facility, and on-line ordering and tracking system for both stock orders and RX orders. It is also the largest producer on the West Coast of thinner polycarbonate lenses. CSC offers a diversified selection of over 250 Asian and European frames, from middle range to high fashion. In addition, CSC provides same-day in-house service and adherence to the latest anti-reflective lens coating technologies, including Crizal®, ®with Scotchgard, Magnum Strada®, and Magnum®.
